July 2009 Beaded Kitten Charm Project.

You can find a variety of Free Arts and Craft Project here, including beaded tutorials and other project. This month's project is a beaded 3D kitten cat charm, made with Japanese glass seed beads using right angle weave Beading technique. This is page 2 of the tutorial.

The pictorials are illustrated with spaces between beads for a clearer direction, in the actual beading, there should be no spaces.

Step 23:
  • Continue to:

Add two white beads on the bottom (red) string and crisscross the top (black) string through the last bead added.
Continue to pass the red string (the one you just used to added new bead on) through two old beads from step 18 and 19 marked with A and B.
Step 24:
  • Continue to:

Add two white beads on the right (black) string, crisscross the left (red) string through the last bead added.
Continue to pass the black string (the one you just used to add new beads on) through three old beads from step 19, 20 and 21 marked with A, B and C.
Step 25:
  • Continue to:

Add one white bead on the top (red) string and crisscross the bottom (black) string through this bead.
Continue to pass the red string (the one you just used to added new beads on) through four old beads from step 21, 22, 23 and 24 marked with A, B, C and D.
Continue also to pass the black string through the bead marked D.
  • For the next step you will need to use these five old beads for passing through (marked with red dots).
The four black dots represents where the paws will go on.
Step 26:
  • Continue to: (Adding the tail)

Pass each side of the string down through one old bead marked with the red dot.
Add one white bead and crisscross both strings through this new bead.
Take one end of the string (black), add one white, one brown and one gold beads, pass the string back up through the new brown bead and add one last white bead. Continue to pass this same string back up through the first white bead added.
Continue to pass both strings in opposite directions down through the other two old beads (marked with red dots) one gold and one brown.
  • If your string is still long, pass it back to where the black dots were marked for the paws in step 25 to make the paws.
If your strings are short, just tie them off and pass the excess back through the piece for a more sturdy piece.
Step 27:
  • Continue to:

Either you add a new string for the four paws or string the remaining string from the last step to the marked beads.
Add three smaller sized beads and pass the string back through the marked beads.
    Repeat for all four paws.
Tie off and pass the excess back through the piece for a more sturdy piece.
  • TIP: Add a little piece of wire to the tail to shape it, that is if you don't like the position it's pointing to.
  • Add a jump ring through the holes at the top of the kitty cat's head to hang it as a charm or make two as a pair of earrings.
  • Finally to add the whiskers, simply cut 3 pieces of black nylon string, around 20mm long for each (this will depend largely on what size of beads you used, if you used bigger beads, you'll have to cut longer whiskers).
Pass all three black nylon lines through the nose bead, add a dot of glue with a toothpick and let it dry out, you can trim the whiskers shorter when the glue is dried out.
