May 2009 Beaded Peyote Penguin Earrings Project.

You can find a variety of Free Arts and Craft Project here, including beaded tutorials and other project. This month's project is a beaded peyote penguin earrings, made with Japanese glass seed beads using odd count peyote Beading technique.

The pictorials are illustrated with spaces between beads for a clearer direction, in the actual beading, there should be no spaces.

Beaded Peyote Penguin Pattern :

What you need:

1)   Glass seed beads, size 11/0 (gold, white, black)
2)   Beading string (0.25mm)
3)   Two jump rings and two earring hooks.

You would need to know how to do odd count, even count, increasing and decreasing of the peyote stitch to make this earring.

For those who has vast experience with peyote stitch just scroll straight to the bottom to see the full pattern.

Always Remember to pull tight on EVERY STEP.

Step 1: Cut a piece of beading string around one meter long.
  • Add on the middle of the string, eight black, one gold and eight black beads on the string.

This will form the two middle rows of the penguin's body (wing part).

Remember right string should be slightly longer than the left.
Step 2:
  • Continue to:

Add one black bead on the string (right) and pass the string back through one old bead marked 15 on the previous step.
Repeat this with the other side of the string (left), add one bead, pass the string back through one old bead from step 1 marked 3.
Step 3:
  • Continue to:

Right string: pass the string back through the bead you just added on step 2. Add one new bead and pass the string back through two old beads from step 1 (17 and 16)
Left string: pass the string back through the bead you just added on step 2. Add one new bead and pass the string back through five beads from step 1 (1, 2, 3, 4 and 5).
Step 4:
  • Continue to: Working on the right string only.

Add three black, one white and three black beads on this peyote row.
Step 5:
  • Continue to:

still working with the same string, add three black, two white and three black beads on this peyote row.
