January 2010 Beaded 3D Chicken Charm Project.

You can find a variety of Free Arts and Craft Project here, including beading tutorials and other project. This month's project is a beaded 3D Chicken, made with Japanese glass seed beads using right angle weave Beading technique. This is page 3 of the full beaded 3D chicken tutorial.

The pictorials are illustrated with spaces between beads for a clearer direction, in the actual beading, there should be no spaces.

Always Remember to pull tight on EVERY STEP.

Beaded Chicken Tutorial
Step 32:
  • The Wings:

See the picture on the right, it shows the back side of the beaded chicken and the two black dots and two red dots will be where your left and right wings will go on.
Step 33:
  • The Wings: (note: light blue are old beads on the chicken's body and dark blue are the new beads to add in this step)

Cut a new piece of string, around 3 inches long.

Pass the string up through one old bead marked with the black dot.
Add four new white beads on the bottom (red) string and crisscross the top (black) string through the last bead added.
Continue to pass the red string (the one you just used to add new beads on) through one old bead marked A.
Step 34:
  • Continue to:

Add two white beads on the bottom right (red) string, crisscross the top left (black) string through the last bead added.
Step 35:
  • Continue to:

Add four white beads on the right (black) string, continue to pass this same black string back through one old bead from step 33 (marked A).
Now tie off and repeat for the opposite side of the string in of cause opposite direction.
Step 36:
  • Chicken's feet:

Cut a new piece of string, around 2 inches long, add one yellow bead right at the center, add one more yellow bead through both strings at the same time in the same direction.
Step 37:
  • Continue to:

Add two yellow beads on the left (black) string, then loop this same string back through the first bead added in this step.

Repeat for the opposite side (red) string.

Step 38:
  • Continue to:

Add one last yellow bead on both strings together at the same time in the same direction, then take the beaded chicken's body you finished earlier, pass the threads in different directions into the bird's body bead as shown (each entry point marked with red dots). (do not tie off yet)
Step 39:
  • Now repeat step 36 to 38 to make the other side of the leg and entry point as shown in the picture on the right:

You can now tie off with the two top strings meeting and another tie off at the two bottom strings meeting.
  • You can now add jump ring at the top comb of the chicken to use it as a charm or pendant or earrings!
