Taxco, the Aztecs of central Mexico cultivated the plant and called it
Cuetlaxochitl. The bracts or modified leaves were once made into a reddish-purple dye and medicine for fever from the plant�s latex. 17th Century, a group of Franciscan priests settled near Taxco and began to use the poinsettia in the Fiesta of Santa
Pesebre, a native procession. The plan was introduced in the United States in 1825, since then cultivations of the plant continued till today. Click on each picture to enlarge
