July 2010 Beaded Seahorse Charm Project

You can find a variety of Free Arts and Craft Project here, including beaded project and other project. This month, I would like to feature the instruction on a beaded 3D Seahorse made with Japanese glass seed beads, using right angle weave beading technique. This is page 12 of the whole Seahorse tutorial!

 3D Beaded Seahorse Tutorial
Step 131: Continue to:
  • Add two gold beads on the top (red) string and crisscross the bottom (black) string through the last bead added.
    Continue to pass the red string (the one you used to add new beads on this step) through two old beads marked A and B.

Step 132: Continue to:
  • Add one gold bead to crisscross both strings through.
  • Now you should have this:

    And your seahorse's tail should be curling frontward now.

Step 133: Continue to:
  • Add three gold beads on the left (red) string and crisscross the right (black) string through the last bead added.
    Continue to pass the red string (the one you used to add new beads on this step) through one old bead marked A.

Step 134: Continue to: (work in the opposite direction)
  • Add two gold beads on the top (red) string and crisscross the bottom (black) string through the last bead added.
    Continue to pass the red string (the one you used to add new beads on this step) through one old bead marked A.

Step 135: Continue to:
  • Add two gold beads on the top right (black) string and crisscross the bottom left (red) string through the last bead added.
    Continue to pass the black string (the one you used to add new beads on this step) through two old beads marked A and B.

Step 136: Continue to:
  • Add one gold bead to crisscross both strings through.
  • Now you should have this:

    But it's facing upwards towards the belly of the seahorse.
  • After this repeat step 116 to step 117 exactly once.

Step 137: Continue to: (work in the opposite direction)
  • Add two gold beads on the top (black) string and crisscross the bottom (red) string through the last bead added.
    Continue to pass the black string (the one you used to add new beads on this step) through two old beads marked A and B.

Step 138: Continue to:
  • Add one gold bead to crisscross both strings through.
  • Now you should have this:

    This should now be facing into the tail (backwards). The whole tail is in a curl right now.

Step 139: Continue to:
  • Add three gold beads on the left (red) string and crisscross the right (black) string through the last bead added.
    Continue to pass the red string (the one you used to add new beads on this step) through one old bead marked A.

Step 140: Continue to: (now work in the opposite direction)
  • Add one gold bead on the bottom (red) string and crisscross the top (black) string through the bead added.
    Continue to pass the red string (the one you used to add new beads on this step) through one old bead marked A.

Step 141: Continue to:
  • Add one gold bead to crisscross both strings through.

  • Pass the strings through the two loose old beads at the side and when the two ends meets, tie off with a dead knot, loop the remainder string back through the piece (no specific order) to make sure the know don't come loose.

Step 142: Crown: (cut a new piece of string, around 6 inches long or you can use wire too)
Note: the five lighter colored bead circle of five is the old bead circle on the very top of the seahorse's head, which you will be using to pass strings through.
  • Add one gold bead at the middle of the string (marked by the red dot) add one more new bead through both string in the same direction (do not crisscross).
    Continue to pass the left (black) string through one old bead on it's left marked A.
    Continue to pass the right (red) string through one old bead on it's right marked A.

Step 143: Continue to: (work on one side at a time)
  • On the left black string, add two gold beads and pass the same string back up through the first bead added.
    Continue to pass same string further up through one old bead on the head marked A.
  • On the right red string, add two gold beads and pass the same string back up through the first bead added.
    Continue to pass same string further up through one old bead on the head marked A.

Step 144: Continue to: (work on one side at a time)
  • On the left black string, add two gold beads and pass the same string back down through the first bead added.
    Continue to pass same string further down through one old bead on the head marked A.
  • On the right red string, add two gold beads and pass the same string back down through the first bead added.
    Tie off and pass the excess stings back through the piece.

Step 145: Nose: (cut a new piece of string, around 10 centimetre long)
  • With the seahorse facing you, note the five beads that's marked with red dots, that's where you continue to bead the nose or snout of the seahorse.
  • Pass the new string through the lower bead marked with the red dot (with arrows exiting to show the string).

Step 146: Continue to:
  • Add three gold beads on the left (black) string and crisscross the right (red) string through the last bead added.
    Continue to pass the black string (the one you used to add new beads on this step) through one old bead marked A.

  • Add two gold beads on the bottom (red) string and crisscross the top (black) string through the last bead added.
    Continue to pass the red string (the one you used to add new beads on this step) through one old bead marked A.
